Mentions of “us” and “we” mean DfE and “you” means anyone using this website.
We have created services that let you sign up to receive email updates and marketing content about teaching in further education, and request support by email or telephone.
When you provide us with your personal data, we process it (and add it to our email subscription list if applicable). These services will help you to make an informed decision about becoming a further education teacher.
When you sign up to receive updates or request support by email, we will only collect your:
The information you provide to us will be sent to our DfE marketing team and you will be added to our distribution list to receive email updates.
If you request support via the support email or telephone helpline, your details will be sent to our team of teacher training advisers to enable them to deal with your request.
The information we collect from you (such as your name and contact details) is used for identification, administration and analysis purposes. This allows us to ensure that public funds are being spent effectively.
We will save your email address and name in our contact and distribution list, but no other data that you may inadvertently supply will be saved, for example data in your email signature.
In each email update you receive, you will be given the opportunity to unsubscribe from further communications.
We will contact you annually to check that you still wish to receive email updates from the Teach in FE campaign. We will also review all data on a quarterly basis to ensure that any other personal data has been permanently destroyed.
In order for our use of your personal data to be lawful, we need to meet one (or more) conditions in the data protection legislation.
For the purpose of this project the relevant condition is Article 6(1)(a) – that you have given your consent.
We sometimes need to make personal data available to other organisations. These might include contracted partners (who we have employed to process your personal data on our behalf) and / or other organisations (with whom we need to share your personal data for specific purposes).
Where we need to share your personal data with others, we ensure that this data sharing complies with data protection legislation. For the purpose of this project, we may share your data with TPUK (Teleperformance UK) to deliver our support service.
The Department for Education will keep your personal data as part of the Teach in Further Education website for 5 years. We will review your consent annually and delete this information if you request us to do so.
More information about how the DfE handles personal information is published in the Personal Information Charter.
